About the campaign
The concept of this campaign isĀ the ocean in a drop. It plays off of the original “a drop in the ocean” – a phrase used to describe something as small or insignificant. By flipping the phrase on its head, the campaign aims to show how every little thing contributes to a whole. With the primary focus being on the ocean, this concept and its executions are driven by the statistics we often choose to ignore; like how chemicals like oxybenzone – found in sunblock – has been directly linked to coral bleaching.
The World Wildlife Fund aims to raise awareness around environmental issues and funding to fight against various human-caused problems.
The aim of this campaign is to raise awareness surrounding the impact our daily consumption has on the environment. This is done through Instagram carousels, an Instagram / TikTok / YouTube Shorts video, and a live event held at the Two Oceans Aquarium.
Initially doing this project with fellow Vega students Samantha Gottschalk and Daniel Schaffers, the initial idea was to focus exclusively on the skincare industry – specifically sun protection. Through the assignment and execution development, the concept got lost.
This short animated video raises awareness to how little we know about the impact our daily-use products have on the environment. Ending with a CTA to sign a pledge created specifically for this campaign, users are pushed to learn more about how they can make a difference.
